Description

Iconic wine of a philosophy of thought and work. Sixty years old, Primitivo di Manduria DOP is one of those reds that has helped change the world's perception of Apulian wines. From powerful blending wines to champions of balance and elegance. Sessantanni, in particular, comes from grapes harvested from old vines that are at least sixty years old and still bush-trained, the traditional Apulian system. "Genius loci", the (fortunate) fruit of the unique association between "genius and physical place". A wine like this, in other words, can only be made here, in this place. In the winery, after the slow transformation of the grapes, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in steel and is then passed into French and American oak barriques, where it rests for at least 12 months. Very deep and elegant ruby red colour; the nose reveals a broad and complex bouquet. Fruity, with notes of plums and cherry jam, to which is added a light spiciness and hints of tobacco. A full-bodied wine, soft and rich in noble tannins, it has a finish that offers notes of cocoa, coffee and vanilla. Due to its robust (but elegant) character, it is a good accompaniment to savoury dishes. Excellent with red meats and game.
