Description

The bacchanal was a Roman festival, with a background of appeasement, dedicated to Bacchus, the ancient god of wine and harvest. In the common tradition, moreover, Bacchus represents the pleasure of the senses and entertainment. It is therefore difficult to imagine a more apt name than this for a wine with such great personality. It is made from a blend of Sangiovese grapes, the large type used to produce Brunello, and Cabernet Sauvignon, an improving variety par excellence. The two varieties go into the blend in equal parts, 50%. For vinification, as is customary at La Lecciaia winery, steel vats are used, with temperatures kept constantly under control to encourage the extraction of the best aromas. After vinification, however, the maturation phase proceeds differently depending on the variety. The Sangiovese, in fact, rests for a minimum of 48 months in Slavonian oak barrels. For Cabernet Sauvignon, on the other hand, the period of maturation is shorter, about 24 months, but in small barrels, the classic French barriques. The result is a pleasantly complex and nuanced wine, with red and black fruit in clear evidence, well integrated with toasted notes from the aging process. In the mouth it reveals itself to be a wine capable of giving great satisfaction. A great choice when the evening promises to be fun.
